In the history of the NBA, there are many players whose names are not always on the radar, but whose contributions to the success of their teams are invaluable. These “shadow heroes” of NBA championships often remain in the shadows of the stars, even though their efforts were key to achieving victories.

1 John Stockton

John Stockton is one of the most outstanding point guards in NBA history, known for his amazing assists and leadership skills. Despite being the league record holder for assists and steals, his name is often overlooked in discussions about the greatest players. His partnership with Karl Malone with the Utah Jazz was one of the most productive duos in basketball history, but his lack of a championship title has left his accomplishments underappreciated.

2 Draymond Green.

His ability to play multiple positions, defend against a variety of opponents and orchestrate the offense makes him indispensable, though his stats may not always be impressive. Green is an example of a player whose value goes beyond traditional statistical metrics.

3 Duncan Robinson

Duncan Robinson of the Miami Heat went from an undrafted player to one of the best sharpshooters in the league. His accurate three-point shooting and ability to stretch opposing defenses have been key factors in the Heat’s success in recent seasons. Despite this, his name is rarely mentioned among the league’s best shooters, making him one of the NBA’s underrated heroes.

4 Dwight Howard.

Dwight Howard
Dwight Howard is an eight-time All-Star Game participant and three-time Defensive Player of the Year. Despite an impressive career, he was not included in the list of the top 75 players in NBA history, which has caused controversy among basketball fans. His dominance on defense and rebounding was key for the teams he played for, especially during his time playing for the Orlando Magic.

5 De’Aron Fox.

Despite his individual accomplishments, the Kings have underachieved in recent years, leading to an underestimation of his talent at the league-wide level.
These players demonstrate that contributions to team success are not always measured in points or personal accolades. Their work ethic, dedication and ability to do the unnoticed but important work make them true shadow heroes of NBA championships.
